Is Uganda a golf destination? We say definitely! Uganda is famously known as a nature, wildlife, primates, culture and tropical destination that provides a great escape for Europeans during winter and summer breaks. When you think of Golf in Africa, Uganda is the farthest thing on your mind. Recent course developments coupled with growing club memberships are making Uganda Africa's new golf destination.

Lake Victoria Serena Golf Course

This beautiful course is sited right on the banks of Africa's largest lake, Lake Victoria is an 18 holes golf course designed by Golf Plan Inc USA. Dubbed the most beautiful and picturesque golf course in Uganda, it presents a very challenging layout for golfers of all levels. Each hole has a different feel to it as it transforms you from grass layout to lake and dirt. While on this course, you are surrounded by over 100 different bird species making it a birder's paradise as well. This course is located in Kivu within the beautiful and Luxury Serena Resort & Spa which is a 15 minutes drive from Entebbe airport. This resort is a must visit for golfers interested in golfing in Africa.


Entebbe Golf Course


Entebbe Golf course is the oldest golf course in East Africa opened in 1901. This complex course was designed by Mr. Harry Hamilton Johnston who poured his passion and expertise in not only designing the course but also mapping out the Botanic Gardens and the zoo right next to the course giving in the perfect Ugandan touch that is nature.

This 18 hole course has hosted major regional tournaments. It is well equipped with a fully functional club house and restaurant that serves both local and international cuisine. The course is surrounded by big shopping malls, hotels and beaches as it is right on the edge of Lake Victoria making it a top pick for must visit courses in when on vacation in Uganda.

This golf course is only a stone throw away from Entebbe airport so there is no excuse for you to stop by and play a round on arrival or before your departure flight.


Kihihi Garuga Golf Course

This 18 holes, par 71 golf course is located in South Western Uganda at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable national park, home to more than 50% of the world's population of the endangered Mountain Gorillas.

The golf course is accessible by road, a 9 hours drive from Entebbe airport or by air with a one hour flight from either Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airstrip to Kihihi airstrip. The major attraction activity to this course is gorilla tracking which is done less than 30 minutes drive away from the golf course. The endangered Batwa pygmy community, one of Uganda's oldest culture lives within this forest too and is a major tourist attraction. Because of this, you are surrounded by various lodges, luxury and budget to choose from for your stay. This course is perfect for the golfer who fancies countryside golf with a touch of nature, culture and wildlife.


Kilembe Mines Golf course

Unknown to the public, Kilembe Mines golf course is a 9 holes challenging golf course that lies right at the foot of the mighty Rwenzori mountains. The course was established in 1950s and rose quickly to become one of the best clubs in East Africa. The course's future became uncertain after the demise of Kilembe mines in 1970 and the corners of the course started retracting back to the bush. It is currently being revived by passionate club members trying to keep the spirit of golf alive in Kasese.

This course borders the famous Queen Elizabeth National park famous for wildlife such as Elephants, tree climbing lions, hippos, over 420 bird species, chimpanzees and other primate species.

On this course, you are treated to the Albertine rift valley on one side and stunning panoramic views of mountain peaks and surrounding hills on the other. Also, the sunsets on this course are to die for!
